Seller commissions

Each seller's commission, calculated the moment the booking is saved

The commission engine of the management software for travel agencies.

Define a rule per seller, or a single one for the whole agency, and Tripwise applies it to every booking. Volume tiers, splits across several sellers and supervisor override, with no parallel spreadsheets.

From the rule to the amount, with nothing recalculated by hand

A default for the whole agency, and a rule of their own for whoever needs one.

One rule for the whole agency, or one per seller

Set a company default that applies to every seller without a rule of their own, and add exceptions on top as needed. If someone has their own rule, that one wins. Every change is recorded with who made it and when.

  • Company default
  • A rule of their own per seller
  • Every change is audited

Three ways to earn

A percentage, a fixed amount per booking, or a fixed amount per passenger, with the option to count infants under two or leave them out. Fixed modes carry their currency. And before saving a rule, the simulator shows what it would produce against a sample profit or sale.

  • Percentage
  • Fixed amount per booking
  • Fixed per passenger, infants optional

On profit, or on the total charged

Each rule picks its base. Profit calculates on what is left between what the passenger is charged and what the operator is paid. Total charged calculates on everything invoiced to the passenger, with no costs deducted. You can have one person earning one way and another the other way.

  • Profit base
  • Total-charged base
  • Chosen rule by rule

Volume tiers, graduated

When a seller has a ladder, each rate applies only to the slice of volume that falls in its band, not to the running total. Crossing a tier improves what comes next rather than rewriting what came before, so there are no artificial jumps at month end. Volume accumulates per currency, across the last twelve months.

  • The rate applies per band, not all at once
  • Volume accumulated per currency
  • Tiers replace the flat percentage

One booking, several sellers

When two or three people worked a sale, you split the booking between them with a percentage each. The split starts out even and has to close at 100%. The important part: each seller earns according to their own rule, with their own base and rate, not a slice of the same number.

  • Percentages close at 100%
  • Each with their own rule
  • Starts split evenly

Supervisor override, stacked on top

A supervisor can hold their own commission on the bookings they approve. It is earned on top of the seller's and is not deducted from it, and it is calculated on the whole operation even when the booking is split between several people.

  • Not deducted from the seller
  • On the whole operation
  • Activated by the Supervisor role

Seller commissions in Tripwise

What we get asked most about how the team earns.

On whichever you choose, rule by rule. On the Profit base it is calculated on the difference between what the passenger is charged and what the operator is paid, with the agency fee included. On the Total-charged base it is calculated on everything charged to the passenger, with no costs deducted. You can have one seller earning on profit and another on sales, in the same agency.

Graduated. Each rate applies only to the portion of volume that falls in its band, not to the whole. With 5% up to ten thousand and 8% beyond, someone who accumulated fifteen thousand earns 5% on the first ten thousand and 8% on the remaining five, not 8% on everything. That way crossing a tier never produces an artificial jump. Volume accumulates per currency, without conversion.

The amounts earned, no. Each seller only sees what they earned themselves, and that restriction is enforced in the database, not merely hidden on screen. On the agency dashboard they see their own commission and their rank, but not their colleagues' amounts. The full leaderboard with names and figures is for Administrator and Supervisor.

No. It calculates the amount and records it on each booking, together with the base and rate that were used, but there is no settled or paid status, no payment date, no receipt and no Excel or PDF export of a monthly settlement. Payment happens outside the system. What Tripwise solves is that the number is correct and nobody has to rebuild it in a spreadsheet.

No. The commission is frozen when the booking is saved, with the base and rate in force at that moment, and stored as part of that booking. Changing the rule affects whatever is saved from then on. If you want an earlier booking to pick up the new rule, it has to be saved again.
